Herb Camp: Fields and Woodlands, Flowers and Gardens
Join us for three immersive days of plant identification and foraging for medicinal plants in our local area. You’ll learn how to recognize roadside plants such as Gravel Root, Butterfly Weed, Mimosa, Blue Vervain, Catnip, and Chicory, and gather wild Lobelia, St. John’s Wort, Yarrow, and Monarda for making medicine. We’ll also dig roots of Teasel, Burdock, Mullein, and Nettle, and discover treasures like the Pawpaw patch, Cardinal Flower Lobelia, Horsetail, and Balmony along the water’s edge.
Take home an Elderberry cutting, Lemon Balm, Mugwort, and Nettles to continue your herbal journey. We’ll each make our own garden brew in a quart jar, so you can enjoy fresh teas by the quart. If you’ve ever wondered about the plants along your path, the flowers in the field, or the uses of weeds in your fields, then this class is perfect for you!
