Come explore the wilds of Rappahannock County, Virginia with medicinal herbalist, Teresa Boardwine, RH (AHG). We will locate and identify over 200 plants in three days in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. We will forage the fields, woodlands, stream beds and roadsides in search of native plants, edible fruits, invasive vines and useful weeds. We will harvest plants for food and medicine from the Green Comfort gardens to make medicine daily. Out hands-on laboratories in the Apothecary allow you to create herbal products for take home to enjoy. And each day is an adventure whether you camp and stay over ont he property or drive back and forth. Give yourself permission to slow down and go herb hunting as you learn how to incorporate herbs into your food and lifestyle.
During three full days of plant Identification and foraging for medicinal plants from our local area. Learn to recognize the roadside plants like Gravel root, Butterfly weed, Mimosa, Blue Vervain, Catnip and Chicory. Gather wild Lobelia, St. John’s wort, Yarrow and Monarda for medicine making. Dig some roots of Teasel, Burdock, Mullein and Nettle. Behold the PawPaw patch, Cardinal flower lobelia, Horsetail and Balmony by the water’s edge.
